Who & what is Kreative Gardens? A message from our owner, Renee;

Kreative Gardens has taken shape by life experiences, passion for the rainforest and travel.

KG (Kreative Gardens) was established in 2005; inspired by my birthplace in the mountains of Northern Nicaragua. Plants have been my passion since. I grew up visiting the cloud forests, seeing their majestic habitat and yet, witnessing its destruction. I came from a family of farmers and plant lovers. My grandmother thought me to propagate African Violets & my grandpa was a mule trader. My dad loved his garden and farmed coffee, sugarcane, tabaco and cattle In Nicaragua. Due to civil unrest my family left to Miami In 1978.

In 1990, I decided it was time to leave Miami for Architecture school at Ohio State University. To help pay for tuition I became the schools wood shop attendant. I never anticipated woodworking would be a useful tool for me.

Like everything else in my life Kreative Gardens has been an interesting journey, filled with hurdles, sacrifices, lots of work weekends, ups and downs, challenging adventures and surprises.

I started the current shop by saving money from the Farmers Market in Pinecrest. The market was held then every Sunday at Gardeners Super Market on 124 street and US1. 2005 was the year my son turned 5 and went to kindergarten and the year I went to start my dream plant shop called Kreative Gardens.

I wanted to create a unique shopping experience but with barely a budget. So I used repurposed furniture & pallet wood to create a stage for the plants. I used my woodworking skills to transform reclaimed furniture and pallets. I strongly believe in reusing and reducing our impact and waste on this earth.

I knew that to stay open and be competitive the store concept needed to be unique and offer good quality and service. People needed to fall in love with their plant and enjoy their visit to a Kreative plant place.

Furthermore, I believe Plants should not be intimidating. I wanted to sell a product that was beautiful, different, easy and sustainable. That’s how the root orb came about. The root orb system and Method, U.S. patent number 8,607,500. The orb evolved as a means to sell durable plants that make a statement indoors and outdoors. It’s decorative systematic nature allows you to become a confident plant caretaker. Even if you’ve never owned a plant you can easily understand its needs. The plants are able communicate with you their water needs.

The orbs are made with mostly organic materials, and act as a sponge that allows the plant to drink slowly making it easy to keep living air purifiers indoors.

Today KG is known as a unique little teaching shop, helping people understand their plants by improving their understanding of plant care.

Thus transforming their homes into green happy spaces.
